SOFTBALL: Monday's roundup


HYNDMAN 5, FORBES ROAD 3 >> Forbes Road mustered just four hits, and Hyndman racked up 12 in a non-league win on Monday.

The Cardinals (8-8) took an early 3-0 lead, but the Hornets (14-4) tied the game in the fourth inning and scored two more in the sixth to pull out the win.

"The girls played well tonight, we just couldn't get the ball out of the air," FR coach Beth Bryant said.

Olivia Hall finished 1-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Cardinals, and Braylin Hohman, Hannah Purnell and Maiah Mellott all singled.

NORTHERN BEDFORD 11, MCCONNELLSBURG 1 >> McConnellsburg committed six errors and didn't manage a single hit in a five-inning loss to Northern Bedford in Sideling Hill/Inter-County Conference action.

The Spartans' only run was scored by Katelyn Harmon. She was hit by a pitch, then moved around the bases on a pair of groundouts before scoring on a passed ball.
