Public Opinion Girls Volleyball All-Stars
FIRST TEAM
HALEY BRICKER, Shalom Christian, sr., MH: Bricker was one of the Flames' most well-rounded players this season. "All around, Haley brings tremendous energy to the team, and they really depended on her to make those big kills," Shalom coach Katie Gantz said. "They really fed off that, and she really carried us through some games. She's super encouraging and is always super positive." Bricker was also named to the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference First-Team.
KERI GEARHART, Greencastle-Antrim, jr., MH: "Keri is unlike a lot of other middles," G-A coach Corry Eagler said. "Having her play all the way around was huge for us. She was such a great passer and defender, so that opened up that back row attack that we're not used to having. She really set the tone for the rest of the team." Gearhart led the Blue Devils with 235 kills and was second with 119 digs. She was also named an MPC Keystone Division first-teamer.
HAYLEE HOLSOPPLE, Chambersburg, sr., MH: As a first-year starter, Holsopple was an obvious standout for the Trojans and was named to the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division first team. Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said, "She just grew tremendously as a player. She's a very hard worker, and she's looking at taking that to the next level. She is a very strong blocker." Holsopple led the team with 164 kills and also added a staggering 48 blocks to go along with 55 digs.
CARLY SWOPE, McConnellsburg, sr., OH: Swope capped her career as a four-year starter by leading the Spartans in both digs (290) and kills (199). "I think she just had all-around good play," McConnellsburg coach Heidi Johnston said. "She was a solid player offensively and defensively. She had that steadiness and consistency that you could always count on." Swope was also a top server for McConnellsburg, racking up 110 aces for the season.
CIARAROSENBERGER, Waynesboro, sr., OH: The Maidens boasted one of the top hitting pairs in the area with Rosenberger and Olivia Fogelsonger. Rosenberger finished with 236 kills and added 34 aces and 99 digs. "Ciara set the tone for us, night in and night out," 'Boro coach Kim Saunders said. "She came up big when we needed her to, and she led the youngsters when we needed a pick-me-up." Rosenberger was Waynesboro's lone selection on the Mid Penn Keystone First Team.
TYANA QUIVERS, James Buchanan, sr., OH: Quivers, a Mid Penn Capital Division first-team selection, led the Rockets with 196 kills and was also second on the team with 136 digs. "She was chosen as a captain for our team, and she did an excellent job as being a leader," JB coach Tonya Miller said. "Whenever we needed her to step up, she stepped up big. She had a lot of digs and blocks, also, so she did a little bit of everything this year." Quivers also had 11 blocks and 25 assists.
BAILEE NITTERHOUSE, Chambersburg, jr., OH: Despite her short stature, Nitterhouse finished with 115 kills and 151 digs for the Trojans. "She plays bigger than she is," Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said. "She finished the season very strong as a sophomore, and she didn't disappoint as a junior. She was a very good force for us, and a very good option for Lauren (Ching)." Nitterhouse had 24 aces on 85 service points.
LINDSEY RANDLER, McConnellsburg, sr., S: Randler served as the heart of McConnellsburg's volleyball team for four years. She amassed 657 assists this season to go along with 153 digs, 44 aces and even 35 kills. "She was our fire and our workhorse," Spartan coach Heidi Johnston said. "She's probably the opposite of Carly (Swope) in that Lindsey is our most vocal leader. She was constantly showing heart by running our offense."
OLIVIA FOGELSONGER, Waynesboro, jr., OH: After a successful sophomore campaign, Fogelsonger continued to get better this year, finishing with a team-leading 244 kills. "Liv can command the middle," Maidens coach Kim Saunders said. "She continues to get stronger in her knowledge of the game. Next year, she'll be our leader. It'll be her fourth year on varsity, so we'll ask a lot of her." Fogelsonger also finished with 15 blocks.
LAUREN STAINS, Shalom Christian, jr., OH: As a junior, Stains had a breakout season for the Flames, who reached the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference championship. "Lauren is one of those players who will give 110 percent all the time," Shalom coach Katie Gantz said. "There was one match she actually dove so aggressively, she banged her nose on the floor. That's an awesome thing to have."
