GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Monday's roundup

SHALOM CHRISTIAN 3, GRACE ACADEMY 1 >> Shalom Christian got off to a sluggish start Monday, but it turned up the heat to pull away for a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference win over Grace Academy.

The Flames (5-1, 5-1 MDCC) lost the opening set 27-25, but dominated from there. Grace didn't score more than 21 points in any set, with Shalom winning the final three sets, 25-18, 25-16 and 25-21, respectively.

"Despite a somewhat slow start, the girls dug in tonight to get the win," Shalom coach Katie Gantz said. "Grace is a good team, and they pushed us with their net play, but we were able to stay level-headed and push through."

Brooke Kuhns led the Flames with 14 kills, Lexy Poe had 13 and Haley Bricker had 12. Kylie Eby finished with 40 assists, and Paige Hoover and Bricker both had 13 digs.
