JAMES BUCHANAN 5, HALIFAX 1 >> James Buchanan came on strong in the second half to secure a non-league victory over Halifax.

"It was a good win, and the girls played really well," JB coach Terry Appleby said. "Halifax was a good team. They just got a little tired, and we took advantage of it. We got some good looks."

Mickey Heinbaugh and Kayla Snider each had a pair of goals, while Aspen Anderson also scored once for the Rockets (9-5).

Nina Shatzer stopped 11 shots in the victory.

WAYNESBORO 2, SOUTH WESTERN 1, OT >> Monica Beck fired in a direct kick with 22 seconds left in the second overtime to lift Waynesboro over South Western in a non-league game.

The Maidens (10-3-1) trailed the Mustangs (2-9) into the second half, until Kennedy Chandler scored on an assist by Megan Shockey with 11:10 remaining.

Waynesboro coach Brian Fisher said, "We feel fortunate to get the win. I'm proud of our girls, because they have come from behind five or six times this season. But we are not playing up to our capabilities and that is frustrating. I know we are better than we're showing."
