GIRLS SOCCER: Chambersburg falls to Cedar Cliff in OT, 1-0

HIGHLAND PARK >> Cedar Cliff scored the game's only goal with two minutes left in the first overtime to hand Chambersburg a 1-0 defeat in a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division girls soccer game on Thursday afternoon at Lowther Field.

Katy Frank scored the Colts' goal on a pass from Miranda Gallucci.

"The goal came on a precise pass and reception and a perfect shot," Trojan coach Eric Guyer said. "(Goalkeeper) Meg (Cottingham) extended and got a hand on it at the near post, but the deflection bounced over the line at the far post."

The Colts held a 20-9 advantage in shots and 4-1 in corner kicks. Cottingham made nine saves for Chambersburg (3-2-1, 2-1 MPC).

Guyer said, "We were playing our first away game on a huge grass field, and I think the heat took its toll as the game wore on.

"The defense did a great job on their assignments and we had some chances and kept ourselves in position to win. The result wasn't what we'd like, but the effort was great."
