GIRLS SOCCER: Thursday's roundup

SHALOM CHRISTIAN 8, CUMBERLAND VALLEY CHRISTIAN 1 >> Shalom Christian jumped out to a big lead and never looked back in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls soccer win over Cumberland Valley Christian on Thursday.

The Flames (5-0, 3-0 MDCC) scored three goals in the first 10 minutes and went into halftime with a 5-0 lead. CV Christian (1-3, 1-3 MDCC) didn't get on the board until Marcella Carannante scored in the 75th minute.

"The team came out fast and scored quickly," Shalom coach Peter Holdaway said. "We moved the ball well up front, and the defense held tough all game. CVCS played hard and pushed us the entire time."

Kendall White, Tori Yoder and Brooke Poe both finished with two goals for the Flames, and Lexy Poe and Brooke Emge also scored. Seven different girls notched assists for Shalom, and Maddie Keck finished with 13 saves for the Blazers.
