GIRLS LACROSSE: Thursday's roundup

PALMYRA 20, CHAMBERSBURG 7 >> Chambersburg's girls lacrosse team couldn't handle Palmyra's offensive firepower and suffered a non-league loss Thursday night at Trojan Stadium.

The Trojans (2-4, 1-4 MPC) had a decent start, scoring four goals in the first half, but Palmyra closed out the half with four unanswered goals to run away with it.

"Toward the end of the first half, we started to have some breakdowns on defense," Chambersburg coach Katie Feairheller said. "We lost sight of our girls and started getting into bad situations and gave them free positions. Palmyra was able to capitalize off our mistakes."

Emily Glennon and Avery Rife each had a pair of goals for Chambersburg, and Maggie Nichols, Liza Ernst and Kendyl Stewart netted one each.

"We had a couple of strong runs on goals; we just couldn't keep our effort consistent throughout," Feairheller said. "As a new program, we are still growing. We are so much stronger than we were last year, but we still have a lot of room to grow."
