Mercersburg 61, Lawrenceville 39: The Mercersburg girls basketball team won its seventh straight contest with a comfortable victory over Lawrenceville in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game.

The Blue Storm started the game on a 11-0 run, holding Lawrenceville scoreless for the first five minutes of the frame.

"Our kids rose to the occasion in a big situation and played great defense," Mercersburg coach Katie LaRue said. "Molly (Taylor) did a great job on their best player, limiting her to nine points."

Janean Cuffee, the Big Red's leading scorer had just three field goals in the game thanks to Taylor's efforts. While Taylor held the top offensive threat to nine points, she also added 15 of her own, while her and Sarah Lyman paced the Blue Storm (13-2, 4-0 MAPL) with 15 points each. Lyman also added nine rebounds and three steals.

Tori Yoder added 12 points, and grabbed nine rebounds.
