GIRLS: Tuesday, Trojans outmatched by SC

CHAMBERSBURG - The Chambersburg girls basketball team was outmatched Tuesday when it welcomed one of the top teams in the Mid Penn Commonwealth Division. The Lady Trojans fell to State College 71-29, with just three players finding the basket.

"It was another real tough game," Chambersburg coach Barry Purvis said. "They have a really good shooter and some big girls inside and we just couldn't stop them."

That shooter's name is Kyla Irwin, and she's committed to play at UConn. Irwin had 26 points, nearly outscoring Chambersburg by herself.

Just three Chambersburg shooters scored, with Shadai Joyner leading with 15 points-- more than the Trojans' entire scoring in the second half, and seven points more than her previous career-high total. Lindsay Embly followed with 10 points, and Taylor Vrabel had four.

"Shadai had some key shots for us tonight," Purvis said. "We did the best we could, but we were just outmatched."

The Little Lions limited Chambersburg (1-17, 0-12 MPC) to seven points in the first quarter, and kept the Trojans from scoring all together in the final frame.
