FIELD HOCKEY: Monday's roundup, Chambersburg falls in narrow contest to Central Dauphin, 2-1

CHAMBERSBURG >> Chambersburg came oh-so-close to pulling off a Mid Penn Commonwealth Division upset in field hockey on Monday night.

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead less than seven minutes into the second half when Liza Ernst sent a pass from the right side of the circle to Rachel Dusman, who slammed a shot into the cage. But Central Dauphin later tied the game and scored the game-winner with 2:39 left in regulation to claim a 2-1 victory.

"Wow, what a game, and we were in it the entire way," Chambersburg coach Jen Amsley said. "We took the lead early in the second half, but just could not hold onto it. Ari Burke had a great game in goal tonight for us (8 saves), but we just could not hold them off."

Olivia Artz scored the tying goal for the Rams and Zaryian Green put home the winning goal.

Amsley said, "We definitely brought our A game tonight, but came up a little short. Liza, Rachel, Laylea (Garman) and Madison (Schmus) were our leaders out there tonight. We are so close to turning that corner, and it was fun to watch the girls play together tonight and see their skills really start to come on."

Chambersburg is 4-6 (2-6 MPC).
