BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Chambersburg downs Lower Dauphin in straight sets

CHAMBERSBURG >> Chambersburg's boys volleyball team got better and better as the night went on.

The Trojans captured a pair of narrow set victories then went on to dominate Lower Dauphin in the third set for a 3-0 non-league victory.

"We served pretty tough throughout the match, and we were able to get some big runs in all three games," Chambersburg coach Marta Cummings said. "We struggled to hold onto the big leads, but we were able to maintain a lead to finish each set."

Billy Russo was especially strong from the service line for the Trojans (4-7). He racked up 22 service points and had two aces.

Aaron Hoke was dominant offensively; he smacked 12 kills, and Chambersburg got five apiece from Riley Washington, Brady Picking and Russo. Picking also had five block-kills.

"We had some consistent spurts of passing and blocking during the match, and the offense did a nice job of putting the ball away," Cummings said.
