BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Thursday's roundup, Chambersburg gains 2nd straight win by beating CD East


CHAMBERSBURG 3, CD EAST 0 >> Chambersburg's boys volleyball teamed picked up its second straight victory with a blanking of Central Dauphin East in Mid Penn Commonwealth Division action Thursday night.

The Trojans (2-4, 2-2 MPC) held CD East to just 12 points in the first set, then won both of the next sets with a score of 25-16.

"The guys played more to their potential and played well together – more team-oriented," Chambersburg coach Marta Cummings said. "I thought we were a little sloppy with our ball control with free balls, but we did much better as the match went on."

Chambersburg spread out the offensive statistics. Landon Miller and Billy Russo led the way with seven and six kills, respectively, while Jayson Sollenberger, Brady Picking and Riley Washington all smacked five apiece. Ian Patterson racked up 37 assists.

Patterson was also key on the defensive end. He had 13 digs, trailing only Sam Stonesifer, who finished with 14.

Kenny Coppens contributed 11 digs and was the leading server with 15 points.

"It's nice to go 2-0 this week and give the guys a boost of confidence," Cummings said. "The guys are very capable of doing great things."
