CUMBERLAND VALLEY 3, CHAMBERSBURG 2 >> Chambersburg's boys tennis team won a pair of singles matches, but couldn't overcome Cumberland Valley in a Mid Penn Commomwealth Division loss.

For the Trojans (6-4, 2-2 MPC), Aaron Palm picked up a win at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-5, and Jay Padalia easily won his No. 3 singles match, dropping only two games.

"Aaron Palm won a hard-fought match with lots of long rallies," Chambersburg coach Brad Hill said. "Aaron is a patient and tenacious player. Jay Padalia continues to move well and uses strategy and shot accuracy to win his matches."

The most disappointing match of the day for the Trojans came at No. 2 doubles. Garrett Ernst and Nayyer Malik dropped a very close match, 7-6 (8-6), 7-5.

JAMES BUCHANAN 4, BISHOP MCDEVITT 1 >> Clay Murray and Hunter Sowers gutted out a pair of three-set matches to lift James Buchanan over Bishop McDevitt in Mid Penn Colonial Division action.

"A lot it was, we kept our poise today," JB coach Terri Beegle said. "We kept playing our game, and they got very frustrated. We had a lot of unforced errors today, but they battled through. I saw a few fist bumps here and there, so that was cool. These guys wanted it today."

After falling in a tiebreaker in Set 2, Clay Murray won the next two sets, 6-3, 6-4, to claim a win for the Rockets (7-6, 3-6 MPC) at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Sowers likewise dropped his first set, 6-3, but came back to force a decisive third, which he won 7-6 (7-5).

"Both Hunter and Clay went three sets, and Hunter's third set was nip and tuck," Beegle said. "I did a lot of pacing. But they persevered. It was a battle of wills who was going to give in first."

Chance Wishard also won at No. 1 singles, and Matt Schofield and Isaac Shenton teamed up for a win in the top doubles spot.
