BOYS SOCCER: Wednesday's roundup, Fannett-Metal rallies for double OT win over Everett

WILLOW HILL >> One day after McConnellsburg pulled out a dramatic win over Everett, Fannett-Metal's boys soccer team took its turn.

The Tigers fell behind early in the Sideline Hill League match, but rallied to force overtime and ended the game with two minutes left in the second overtime to pull out a 2-1 win over Everett.

The Titans got on the board in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but Layton Hoffman and Levi Brady hooked up for a fine finish in the second half.

In the 60th minute, Hoffman took a corner kick for Fannett-Metal (5-2, 4-1 SHL) and sent in a low cross toward the near post. Brady raced for the near post and scored on a diving header to tie the game at one.

"That could probably be on the Top 10 of ESPN tomorrow," Tiger coach Greg Best said. "It was a really nice goal."

Then late in the second overtime, freshman Kyler Goshorn got to a ball past two defenders, beat another and scored on a low, far-post shot.

"Overall I thought our effort was great," Best said. "The whole team played with a lot of heart against another good opponent."

Jamie Birgfield was solid in goal for the Tigers, finishing with 14 saves.
