BOYS SOCCER: Saturday's roundup, Chambersburg pins 4-0 shutout on Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO >> Chambersburg got good midfield play, which played a big role in a 4-0 non-league boys soccer victory over Waynesboro on Saturday afternoon.

"We looked very good today in the middle," Trojan coach Corey Grove said. "John Ramirez had a great game, and Nathan Maynard and Eric Dixon worked the ball really well."

Erik Espinoza scored the first two goals for Chambersburg (2-1), converting a penalty kick in the first half and scoring off a pass from Dixon four minutes into the second half.

Defender Victor Canel ripped a direct kick into the net to make it 3-0, then Dixon finished it off with a late goal off a pass by Chuy Munoz.

Chandler Schur made two saves for his shutout, while James Barr saved nine for the Indians (1-4), who were out-shot 14-3.

Grove said, "We played a solid game. It's another step in the right direction."
