BOYS: CD nips Chambersburg in OT, 70-69

COLONIAL PARK - It almost seemed that Central Dauphin was destined to beat Chambersburg on Friday night.

First, the Trojans missed a pair of free throws with six seconds left in regulation with the score tied 60-60.

Then, in overtime, CD's Chase Arnold banked in a 3-pointer from the wing with eight seconds left to lift the Rams to a 70-69 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division boys basketball victory.

"It was a great basketball game," Trojan coach Shawn Shreffler said. "I thought we did some really good things. We started a freshman, two sophomores and two juniors and the young guys inside - Tyler Collier and Joel Torres (both scored 6 points) - played very well. They took some major steps forward."

Cole Christian scored 21 points to lead Chambersburg (6-8, 3-6 MPC), which has now lost six in a row. He hit a pair of 3-pointers in overtime to give his team a one-point lead, and a foul shot made it 69-67 before Arnold's bomb.

ByShawn Mincie added 14 points for the Trojans and Cade Brindle put in 13, which was his career high.

"Cole and ByShawn gave us consistent scoring tonight, and Cade started to contribute the way we envisioned him doing," Shreffler said.

The Rams (4-11, 3-6 MPC) got 20 points from Arnold.

Shreffler said, "I was really pleased because I felt like in some games recently when one thing has gone wrong, we haven’t quite responded as immediately as we needed to. I knew we would play hard tonight, but we needed to play with more urgency. Every time we made a run, they did, too, and we didn't blink.

"We did a lot of really good things tonight."
