Girls basketball

Blair 67, Mercersburg 57, OT: The Mercersburg Academy girls basketball team lost a heartbreaker Sunday in an overtime loss to Blair Academy in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game, breaking the Blue Storm's seven-game winning streak.

After being outscored 17-7 in the third quarter, the Blue Storm (13-3, 4-1 MAPL) tallied a 23-point fourth quarter to overcome their deficit and force overtime. Mercersburg fell flat in extra time, falling to Blair 12-2 in overtime.

Blair had two scorers tally more than 25 points, with Andra Espinoza-Hunger adding 25, and Felicia Aiyetoan scoring 27 points.

Isiuwa Oghagbon paced the Blue Storm with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Sarah Lyman also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Molly Talyor rounded out Blue Storm scorers in double-figures with 14 points.

Boys basketball

Blair 66, Mercersburg 36: Mercersburg Academy played a competitive first half, but was out-scored 40-20 in the second half of a Mid-Atlantic Prep League game on Sunday.

"Blair is the clear favorite to win the league and they proved it today," Blue Storm coach Sean Crocker said. "The guys played hard today, and while we could have executed better, I can't fault their effort."

Luka Sevaljevic led Mercersburg (5-12, 0-5 MAPL) with 15 points.

Wrestling 

Mercersburg finishes second at MAPL Duals: Mercersburg Academy went 3-1 at the MAPL Duals held at Blair Academy on Saturday.

The Blue Storm's only loss came from the host team, Blair, by a score of 78-4, but Mercersburg took down Hill (42-38), Peddie (60-21), and Lawrenceville (50-25) for a second-place finish.

Just one wrestler Mercersburg wrestler won their bout against Blair, with Daniel Davis taking a 9-1 major decision over Kraig Correll at 285 pounds for the Blue Storm's only points against the national power.

Joseph Yonke (113) and Brian Nelson (138) went 3-1 with two pins, while Brendan Loveng went undefeated at the dual, with a 3-0 record and two pins.
