BOYS: Saturday, Forbes Road falls in OT


Belleville Mennonite 57, Forbes Road 53 OT: The Forbes Road boys basketball team lost a heartbearker in overtime Saturday in a non-league game against Belleville Mennonite.

Despite outscoring Belleville 12-6 in the first quarter, the Thunder rebounded in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to head into the locker room leading by 4, and kept it close the rest of the way.

Tied at 42 at the end of regulation, Belleville outscored the Cardinals (6-15) 15-11 in extra time.

Forbes Road placed three players in double-figures, led by Matt Brown with 18 points. Brycen Hohman followed with 15 points, while Grayson Hall rounded out the top scorers with 12 points.

Lawrenceville 62, Mercersburg 47: Mercersburg Academy fell in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League contest to Lawrenceville for its fourth-straight loss.

The Blue Storm fell flat in the second quarter heading into the locker room down by seven. In the second half, Lawrenceville’s defense was too much for Mercersburg to overcome in the second half.

"We just couldn't hit shots when we got stops, and we couldn't get stops when we hit shots,” Mercersburg coach Sean Crocker said. “That's not a great recipe for success.”

Luka Sevaljevic paced Mercersburg (5-11, 0-2 MAPL) with 10 points, followed by Elliot Hicks with 16 points.

“Eli Riley had a good game, but it didn't show on the stat sheet, and he has really been a bright spot for us coming on strong,” Crocker said.
