BOYS HOOPS: Chambersburg tames Mifflin Co.

LEWISTOWN - Cole Christian fired in a career-high 30 points Friday night to help the Chambersburg boys basketball team have a pleasant trip back from Lewistown.

Christian topped his previous high by one point in leading the Trojans to a 65-50 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division victory over Mifflin County.

"Cole was efficient tonight," Chambersburg coach Shawn Shreffler said. "He shot only 18 times to get his 30 points. The first half was back-and-forth and he did a great job of keeping us right there. He had 15 in the first half and (Jack) Packer had 12 for them. Packer would hit a shot and then Cole would come down and hit one for us."

Packer (23 points) had four 3-pointers at the break and ended with six, while Christian hit three longballs in each half.

The Trojans (4-2, 2-2 MPC) led 36-29 at halftime, then slowly pulled away.

Jacob Brouse (5 assists, 5 rebounds, 6 steals) and Cade Whitfield (17 points) also helped the Chambersburg cause.

Shreffler said, "I think Jacob played a great basketball game; he had a really good floor game. He's a stat-filler and a very unselfish kid. Cade did a nice job in the interior carving out space for himself."
