GIRLS HOOPS: Shalom wins High Point tourney

GEIGERTOWN -  Scoring 53 points in both games of the High Point Baptist Tournament was enough for Shalom Christian's girls basketball team to score a pair of victories this weekend.

On Friday, the Flames defeated Lincoln Leadership, 53-25, and they won the championship with a victory over host High Point, 53-27, on Saturday.

"Our girls were able to overwhelm High Point defensively," Shalom coach Brad Eby said. "We continue to move the ball well and have lots of contribution from our deep bench. We still need to work on some things, but all in all, I am pleased with the outcome."

Lydia Harris was the top scorer for the Flames (4-0) in the tournament. She scored 14 in the first round then added a 12-point game in the championship match. Brooke Emge paced Shalom offensively with 14 points against High Point. The Flames had nine different players score against Lincoln Leadership.

Both Lexy Poe and Harris were named to the All-Tournament team, and Harris was given top honors.
