HOOPS: CV Christian splits with Broadfording

CV Christian 34, Broadfording 28 >> In its season opener Thursday evening, Cumberland Valley Christian was tied with Broadfording after three quarters, but a pair of 3-pointers by Loryn Sanders helped the Blazers to a 32-28 victory in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference game.
Sanders led CVC (1-0, 1-0 MDCC) with 12 points, including a trio of treys in the game. Maddie Keck scored 10 points and added 12 rebounds for the Blazers and Tori Stouffer made five steals.
"I thought our girls played great defense and Loryn had two big shots at the end of the game to help us pull away," CV Christian coach Mike Sanders said. "We need to work on our free throws (the team was 7-for-26) and our offensive efficiency."
The Lions missed plenty of opportunities at the line, too, going 2-for-19.

Broadfording 67, CV Christian 14 >> Cumberland Valley Christian had a rough start in its season opener, falling 67-14 to Mason-Dixon Christian Conference foe Broadfording on Thursday.
"I take full responsibility for not having the team ready to compete tonight," CVC coach Mike Sanders said. "We need to do a better job of taking care of the ball and running our offense. We will strive to keep improving each game."
The Lions led 20-4 after one period and 45-10 by halftime.
Jesus Pena led the Blazers (0-1, 0-1 MDCC) with six points and Rex Chen grabbed five rebounds.
