GYMNASTICS: Waynesboro defeats Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG - Waynesboro took first place in each event and handed Chambersburg a 123.925-116.9 defeat Wednesday night in a gymnastics meet.

Alex Stoops was the top performer for the Maidens, taking first place in the bars (8.65), beam (8.15) and floor (8.275), which gave her the all-around victory, too, with 33.325 points.

Madeline Johnson also won the vault for 'Boro, with an 8.55 score. She was third in the all-around (31.45).

For Chambersburg, Abby Zeger placed second in three events - vault, bars and beam - and also took second in the all-around with 31.95 points.

Trojan coach Lexie Bowie said, "Abby had a really great meet, and showed what an amazing leader she can be.

"Our girls had some obstacles to overcome that hurt their focus. The beam was rough - we had a lof of falls - but they recovered well. We have a lot of new athletes on the team this year and they are working very hard and learning quickly. We just have a few areas that we really need to work on and focus on."

Also for Chambersburg, Ashayna Barnett was third on the vault and Jocelyn Kibbe was third on the beam.
