There's a first time for everything and Friday marked the first time the York Country Day boys' basketball team won the District 3 Class A championship after topping Greenwood 56-44 at Giant Center in Hershey.

The Greyhounds are now 22-0 entering next weekend's state tournament.

Elsewhere in the District 3 tournament boys' basketball championship games, Eastern York lost big to Bishop McDevitt while Central York fell short against Reading. In the District 3 Class AAAA semifinals, Central York got a heroic performance from Jared Wagner to get past Spring Grove at the buzzer.

And on the wrestling mat, a handful of competitors shined at this past weekend's District 3 tournament.

Northeastern’s Blaine Yinger won three of his four bouts in overtime en route to the 285-pound Class AAA title.

Hanover’s Caleb Garland dominated the final at 126 pounds to win his first District 3 title.

Spring Grove’s Dalton Rohrbaugh won the 106 pound title after falling in same match last year.

South Western’s Owen Wherley won 138-pound championship.

And Biglerville’s Nate Newberry bested YAIAA foe Brian Shermeyer of Delone Catholic for second time in two weeks to win the Class AA title at 152 pounds.

With that, vote for this week's YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week. Polls close Monday at 5 p.m.
