Poll: YAIAA football Athlete of the Week | Nov. 9-Nov. 14
The Northeastern Bobcats are who we thought they were: A good football team.
After finishing the regular season with an 8-2 overall record and earning a No. 2 seed in the District 3 Class AAA tournament bracket, the Bobcats steamrolled No. 15 Northern Lebanon 48-12 in Friday’s first-round game.
It was a classic all-around performance from the Bobcats. For starters, they ran the ball well -- a team trademark throughout the season. Northeastern accumulated 356 rushing yards on the evening, highlighted by Anu Johnson’s 16-carry, 230-yard, two-touchdown effort.
Defensively, Northeastern also showed its ability. The Bobcats forced a turnover, recorded five sacks, made 11 tackles total behind the line of scrimmage and held Northern Lebanon to 192 total yards.
Up next in the District 3 bracket for Northeastern: another home game, this one coming Friday at 7 p.m. against Susquehanna Township.

The Hanover Nighthawks had two losses all season, and both came to the Biglerville Canners.
The first was in Week 9 of the regular season, on Biglerville’s homefield. The second was even more impressive from the Canners’ standpoint -- a 30-7 Biglerville victory, during Friday’s District 3 Class AA first-round playoff game in Hanover.
Colton Sentz shined brightest for Biglerville -- 30 carries, 171 yards and four touchdowns.

There were also tough losses suffered amongst YAIAA teams competing in Friday’s respective District 3 playoff tournaments.
York Suburban -- which entered winners of eight-straight and as 2015 YAIAA Division II champions -- came back down to earth witha 30-16 loss at Northern York.
South Western suffered defeat as well, seeing its late rally fall short in a 23-21 loss at Hempfield.
Dallastown, which began its season 9-0, lost two straight to close things out minus starting quarterback Cade Gold. Last week it was a 26-0 home loss to rival Red Lion, and this week was a 42-21 home defeat to Central Dauphin East.
Speaking of Red Lion, the team got a tough first-round draw and fell hard, 48-21 at Cumberland Valley.
And while Spring Grove found its way into the playoffs following a 5-5 season, the Rockets couldn’t push themselves further, falling big on the road -- 51-3 at Manheim Central.
