Poll: YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week | Nov. 9-Nov. 14

The Susquehannock boys’ soccer team continue to fight on.

Kaleb Lippy played hero Saturday, burying a free-kick goal with 4:40 remaining as the Warriors beat South Fayette 1-0 in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals round.

It continued a wild ride for the Susquehannock boys, who advanced to the semifinals of the District 3 Class AA tournament before winning 3-0 over Somerset in the opening round of the PIAA Class AA tournament.

The Warriors will take the field in the PIAA semifinals against South Park on Tuesday.

It was a gut-wrenching loss for the Gettysburg boys’ soccer team on Saturday in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals.

Surrendering two goals in the final eight minutes, the Warriors fell 2-0 to Northwestern Lehigh at Cedar Crest High School.

Gettysburg held a 20-0 record at one point this year before losing in the District 3 championship to Lancaster Mennonite. After a PIAA first round win over Lansdale Catholic, the team fell to Northwestern Lehigh in disappointing fashion.

"Our goal was from last November until now was to win the state championship because we knew they had the potential," Gettysburg head coach Scott Hancock said. "I'm not going to pay any attention to what happens (in the tournament) after this because they were the best team in the state in my mind."
