It was the Gettysburg boys’ soccer team that won a marquee matchup this week to capture the YAIAA championship.

The Warriors, unbeaten on the season at 19-0, knocked off Central York 1-0 on Thursday to win the league tournament title. The Panthers are now 19-2 on the season.

The game was long anticipated. Neither team had met on the year - Gettysburg is a YAIAA Division II program, while Central competes in Division I. Both are outstanding clubs, and expect to compete well into the state tournament

The Warriors picked up a key goal from standout attacker Adam Yingling at the 27:32 mark and held on from there thanks to key defense and goalkeeping.

The two teams are now in the District 3 tournament, which begins Monday. Click here for soccer brackets in Class AAA, Class AA and Class A.
