Poll: YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week | May 11-May 17

It was a thrilling end to the YAIAA baseball season, and could be an equally thrilling upcoming weeks in the District 3 tournament.

The championship round of the YAIAA tourney saw West York win on a suicide squeeze play in the final inning to top Eastern York 3-2. The bunt was laid down by Cash Gladfelter, while the winning run was scored by Branden Sheffer.

The Bulldogs will now take the field in the Class AAA District 3 tournament as a No. 3 seed and will host Daniel Boone on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Another local team, Spring Grove, grabbed a No. 4 seed in the District 3 tournament bracket and will host Bishop McDevitt on Monday at 4:30 as well.

Other local programs taking the field in the District 3 tournament are Dallastown (Class AAAA), Delone Catholic and York Catholic (Class AA). For all 2015 District 3 baseball brackets, click here.

In the District 3 boys’ volleyball brackets, while a handful of local teams are present, the two marquee ones remain firmly entrenched - that being defending state champions Central York (Class AAA) and Northeatern (Class AA). The Bobcats topped the Panthers last week for the YAIAA title.

And in the District 3 boys’ lacrosse bracket just one team remains - No. 10 West York, after it’s 9-7 win over No. 7 Trinity.
