Poll: YAIAA girls' Athlete of the Week | May 4-May 10

It’s postseason time in the YAIAA, and champions have been determined in girls’ lacrosse.

Kennard-Dale won its fourth league championship with a 14-11 win over Susquehannock on Thursday. The two teams entered the YAIAA championship ranked No. 1 (Kennard-Dale) and No. 2 (Susquehannock) in District 3 and the contest did not disappoint. When it was all said and done, the Rams remained undefeated with an 18-0 record, however.

On the high school softball field, Central York showed off its balance with a combination of youth and experience to shut out Dover in the opening round of the YAIAA tournament.

In the other YAIAA softball semifinal, Delone Catholic slowed down Littlestown in a 4-0 victory over the Tunderbolts. The Squirettes and Panthers will now face off in Monday’s YAIAA championship at 5 p.m. at New Oxford High School.

And in the YAIAA track and field championships, Lynne Mooradian stole the show. The South Western senior won the 100, 200 and 300, while setting the YAIAA championship record in the 300 hurdles with a mark of 44.93 seconds.
