Big games with postseason approaching in the YAIAA

The games are getting bigger as we reach May in the YAIAA and the week gets off to a great start on Monday when Dallastown will travel to Central York for a pivotal Division I softball clash.

Both teams have two league losses and this game will most likely determine the division winner. If Central wins, the Panthers will take the title. If Dallastown wins, the Wildcats will clinch a share of the crown, prior to hosting New Oxford on Tuesday.

Kennard-Dale and Littlestown are battling in Division 3. The Rams play at York Suburban on Monday, while Thunderbolts host Eastern York. The four division winners will open the YAIAA softball tournament on Friday in the semifinals. Division II champ Dover and Delone Catholic of Div. 4 are awaiting for their tourney opponents.

The YAIAA baseball tournament is slated for Friday as well. Spring Grove will face West York and Eastern York will take on Delone Catholic in the semifinals. New Oxford and Spring Grove are the host sites.

The league lacrosse tournament gets underway on Tuesday. On the boys' side, Susquehannock will play Dallastown, 7 p.m. at Cental and West York will face Red Lion at Susquehanock, also starting at 7 p.m. In girls' lacrosse action, Kennard-Dale faces West York, 5:30 at Susky, with York Catholic-Susquehanock being the same time at Central York.

The girls championship will be at 5:30 on Thursday, with the boys to follow, at Susquehannock.

The much anticipated volleyball match between league powers Northeastern and Central is Thursday evening, with the Panthers playing host to the Bobcats.

South Western faces Central Dauphin while Central York takes on Hershey in Tuesday's District 3 Class AAA team tennis quarterfinals. York Suburban goes up against Wyomissing in AA. The winners move on to Wednesday's semifinals - all matches are played at the Hershey Racquet Club.

And finally, the YAIAA track and field championships are scheduled for Friday at Dallastown
