Examining YAIAA baseball, softball playoff picture

Fresh off winning Dallastown softball coach Jeff Deardorff his 100th game Wednesday, the Wildcats visit Central York on Monday with the YAIAA Division I title hanging in the balance. As the teams currently stand, Central holds a one-game lead and won its previous meeting at Dallastown, 1-0.

Should Dallastown force a tie for the division championship, it would have an inside track on tiebreakers. After splitting their head-to-head matchups, the next consideration is head-to-head wins and losses in the division -- starting from top to bottom. South Western is in third place and owns a win against the Panthers.

Also, Dover can clinch at least a share of Division II title on Friday when it plays host to West York. Kennard-Dale and Littlestown are on pace to share the Division III title if both teams win out. Delone Catholic has already wrapped up the Division IV title.

In baseball, Spring Grove has already clinched a share of Division I. The Rockets hold a two-game lead on Dallastown with two games to go. They play host to Central York on Friday.

West York (Division II), Eastern York (Division III) and Delone Catholic (Division IV) have either wrapped up their division titles and YAIAA playoff spots or can do so by Friday.

Both league tournaments begin Friday, May 8 at neutral sites.
