Poll: YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week | April 14-19


Let's take a look at the YAIAA divisional races as the regular season hits its stretch drive.

We’ll start with baseball, where Spring Grove holds a 7-4 overall record and 6-2 mark in Division I play. No team has asserted itself, with Dallastown (5-3 Division I mark) and South Western (4-3 Division I record) each hanging around, but also needing to make a late run if things are to get interesting.

Other races include Division III, where West York holds a perfect mark (9-0 overall, 8-0 in division) but Northeastern lurks close behind with a 6-2 divisional mark. In Division II, it’s Littlestown (7-2 divisional mark) and Eastern York (7-0 in division) who are currently atop the standings, while Delone Catholic (6-2 in division) and York Catholic (6-1 in division) are battling in the Division I standings.

In boys’ volleyball, it’s Northeastern and Central York that have received the lion’s share of the attention and rightly so - both teams are respective state champions and hold identical 6-0 marks in divisional play. But other quality programs are also in the YAIAA, with Susquehannock holding a 4-2 divisional mark and five teams all at 3-3 after that - Spring Grove, Kennard-Dale, Red Lion, York Suburban and Dallastown.

The boys’ lacrosse ranks also has an unbeaten team in divisional play - Susquehannock has an 8-0 record in the YAIAA. Not far off is West York and Dallastown (both at 7-1 in division) while Red Lion (6-2), York Suburban (5-2), Central York (4-4) and Eastern York (4-3) all at or above .500 in YAIAA play.

On the boys’ track, four teams are undefeated in YAIAA competition - South Western (5-0 in Division I), Gettysburg (5-0 in Division II), Bermudian Springs (3-0 in Division III) and Littlestown (3-0 in Division III). And in boys’ tennis, both South Western (8-0 in Division I) and York Suburban (7-0 in Division II) have clinched at least a share of a divisional title.
