Poll: YAIAA girls' Athlete of the Week | Jan. 26-Jan. 31

With a mix of quality teams in the Division I race, it’s fitting that things will come down to Monday night, when the winner between Red Lion and Dallastown will take home the regular-season championship.

Dallastown has been coming on. This past week the Wildcats knocked off Northeastern on Wednesday, then took down Spring Grove on Friday evening. That win, coupled with Red Lion’s 61-50 loss at New Oxford, put both teams at 9-2 in Division I play, and set up Monday’s showdown.

Such a race has been a microcosm of the YAIAA divisional play across the board in 2014-15.

Not to be outdone in Division I, Central York stands at 8-3 and is highlighted by a defense-first mentality that’s served the Panthers well. New Oxford, at 8-4 in divisional play, has also had a solid campaign.

Division II play has West York in control, as the Bulldogs remain undefeated at 18-0 overall and 12-0 in division. They’re an outstanding outfit that can win playing multiple styles on any given evening.

In Division III play, York Catholic (10-1) and Delone Catholic (9-1) continue to stand tall in their divisional race and seem destined for a postseason collision course.

With that, it’s that time of week again. Vote in our Athlete of the Week poll:
