Poll: YAIAA girls' Athlete of the Week | Jan. 5-Jan. 10

With the roll out of the most recent District 3 Girls Basketball Power Rankings this past week, a few rankings stood out immediately.

The first was in Class AAAA, where Red Lion, New Oxford and Dallastown were ranked No. 4, 5 and 6, respectively. All three appear evenly matched - New Oxford beat Dallastown 36-22 - alberit early in the season - on the Colonials home floor, then lost at Red Lion, 46-44 in overtime, this past week. On Friday, the Red Lion girls topped Dallastown, 45-40.

In Class AAA, West York sits at No. 1 in the power rankings, entering the week with a 9-0 record. The Bulldogs are a versatile team, that can play in the open floor and also execute in a halfcourt game as well. Defensively, the Bulldogs can also hold their own.

And then there’s Class AA, where York Catholic (ranked No. 1) and Delone Catholic (No. 2) appear to be on a collision course entering the second half of the 2014-15 season. York Catholic has had a tremendous amount of postseason success over the years - including against Delone in recent seasons. The question this year is, will the Squirettes reverse that trend.

With that, here's our YAIAA Athlete of the Week poll:
