Poll: YAIAA girls' Athlete of the Week | Dec. 15-Dec. 20

Want milestones? We’ll give you milestones.

For one is West York’s Kari Lankford, who scored her 1,000th career point last week in the Bulldogs girls' basketball team’s 58-43 win over Trinity. Lankford finished with 20 points total in the contest.

“She’s just a heck of a player. Anybody that scores 1,000 points is a big thing,” said West York head coach Darrell Wildasin following Lankford’s performance. “(She’s the) fifth girls in school history (to do that). She’s a very intelligent and smart player and deserves all the credit she gets.”

No small feat at all.

Speaking of big-time accomplishments, New Oxford didn’t take their 36-22 win over Dallastown on Friday lightly, either. The Colonials, who are now 4-0 on the season, continue to look impressive in the early going and were elated following their victory over a strong Dallastown team and program.

"That was a program-defining win," New Oxford head coach Mike Sanders said. "Last year we had five really big wins, but they weren't wins that got us anywhere. This is the first time (his team has) been in a game that would put them in sole possession of first against the team that currently held the spot. You could tell we were nervous in the beginning."
