Poll: YAIAA boys' Athlete of the Week | Dec. 8-Dec. 13


The opening week of high school boys’ basketball came and went, but not without some interesting developments.

William Penn - which enters the season appearing strong on paper - went 3-1 to open the year. The team returns a quality core, and added some key pieces as well during the offseason.

There also were some tournament winners and MVPs: Charlie Gingrich with Central York, Kobe Nwandu at Northeastern and Dylan Krieger with Hanover all come to mind.

Of course, it’s just the beginning. Much more is in store for the season, as we move into January, February and then March. By and large, teams with potential should get their play down pat; pretenders off to hot starts should fade.

But for the start of the year, we can at least enjoy the beginning of something new.
