Marsteller up for national award

Kennard-Dale senior Chance Marsteller, who recently completed a perfect high-school wrestling career with his fourth PIAA championship has been nominated for another award, this one that could help the school's entire athletic department.

Marsteller has been nominated for a USA Today poll titled "The Inspiration" in which he could be recognized as the most inspirational scholastic athlete in the country for his unparalleled wrestling accomplishments. If he wins, the Kennard-Dale athletic department will also get a $1000 donation.

The poll can be found here.

Read where Daily Record/GameTimePA.com wrestling correspondent Tom Hunt calls Marsteller the greatest of all time in Pennsylvania, something in which long-time wrestling writer and fan Rod Frisco agreed with when I posed the question to him at the PIAA swimming championships.

Marsteller made it through the first round of voting into the semifinal round. Click here to vote for him in the semifinals. The nominees who receive the highest vote total in each region will advance to the finals, and the three nominees with the next-highest vote totals will receive a wild card entry to the finals for a total of 10 athletes in the final round.
