Two YAIAA Wrestlers Selected for Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic

Two YAIAA wrestlers, and newly crowned PIAA Champions have been selected to compete in the 40th Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic.

The Dapper Dan is often referred to as "The Rose Bowl of Wrestling" and pits the PA All-stars against the USA all-stars at Fitzgerald Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

The classic starts at 4 p.m., Sunday March 16th with a matchup between the WPIAL all-stars and the Oklahoma all-stars.  The main event, Pennsylvania vs. USA will start at approximately 6 p.m.

Hanover's Ian Brown has accepted a bid at 132 pounds and will face Josh Alber from

Dakota Illinois. Alber is a 4-timer from Illinois and has a career record of 177-0. He is committed to attend the University of Northern Iowa and is ranked third at 132-pounds nationally by InterMat Wrestle. Brown is unranked nationally and the Lehigh commit enters with a career 159-12 mark.

Bermudian Springs' Tristan Sponseller has accepted a bid at 195 pounds and will face Chip Ness from Buford Georgia. Ness is a 3-timer in Georgia and has a career mark of 138-1. He

will be attending the University of North Carolina. Both come in ranked via InterMat with Ness at 4th and Sponseller 20th.

The United States all-stars feature a total of 30+ state titles while the Pennsylvania all-stars feature a grand total of 21 state championships, 24 had Kennard-Dale's Chance Marsteller entered for competition. A stress fracture in his lower back will keep him out of his showdown with Bo Nickal, an Allen Texas native slated to attend Penn State.
