Quick breakdown: District 3 boys' basketball rankings (Jan. 13)

District 3 released its second set of boys' basketball ratings, which will set the brackets for next month's tournament once the regular season concludes. Here's a look at the second installment.

You can click on each classification title for a link to the district's complete ratings.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AAAA

(Top 20 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: Wilson

YAIAA contenders: 2. Central York, 8. Red Lion, 15. William Penn

Rapid reaction: The second-rated Panthers and No. 1 Wilson have played once already. Could they meet again? Elsewhere, Dallastown is just off the top 20 at No. 21. The Wildcats' rating of .666 trails Central Dauphin East's .669.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AAA

(Top 18 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: Bishop McDevitt

YAIAA contenders: 2. West York, 5. Bermudian Springs, 13. York Suburban, 17. Northeastern, 18. Eastern York

Rapid reaction: This is a big week for No. 2 West York. The Bulldogs opened with a win at William Penn and travel to Central York on Wednesday. That's back-to-back quad-A opponents who are projected tournament teams. Also, while Dallastown is just on the outside in 4A, Dover is just behind the YAIAA contingent of Northeastern and Eastern York here.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AA

(Top 10 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1:  Columbia

YAIAA contenders: 2. Hanover, 4. Delone Catholic, 8. York Catholic, 9. Biglerville

Rapid reaction: The Nighthawks look to be ascending. Could they take the No. 1 spot before too long?

DISTRICT 3 CLASS A

(Top 12 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: Lebanon Catholic

Area contenders: 5. New Hope Academy

Rapid reaction: The Mighty Ants picked up a few losses before the weekend concluded, but they've faced some tough opponents, including Berks Catholic. The Saints were 8-3 and ninth in the 3A rankings going into this week.
