YAIAA girls' basketball power rankings revisited

ID=75276794

With the second Friday of the high school basketball season in the books, now is a good time to revisit those preseason power rankings for the YAIAA. Especially with no games on a Saturday night because of the snowy conditions.

1. York Catholic (2-0, previous rank: 1): There have been few tests so far for the PIAA Class AA runner-ups. However, it's worth noting the Fighting Irish have gotten a scoring boost from junior guard Japriya Carroll. Coach Kevin Bankos used her mostly as a JV player last season. Through two games, she's their second-leading scorer.

2. West York (2-1, PR: 2): It's a new cast around returning guards Kari Lankford and Emily Wood, but those new faces have quickly adjusted. One example is sophomore forward Elle Stine, who provided a 12-point punch in the Bulldogs' road win Thursday at Susquehannock.

3. Dover (4-0, PR: 3): With a strong start, the Eagles remain steady. As usual, the recipe has been a stingy defense on the perimeter and point guard Alayah Hall the catalyst at both ends of the floor.

4. Susquehannock (3-1, PR: 5): The Warriors are a perfect example of the parity in this league. A case could be made for them to be No. 1. The same goes for the teams ahead of them.

5. Dallastown (3-1, PR: 4): The defending league tournament champs look like they again will be players. Eastern and Delone Catholic are not far behind, and their double overtime game Friday showed how fierce the competition could get.

Keep an eye on: 6. Eastern York (3-0), 7. Delone Catholic (2-1), 8. Red Lion (2-1), 9. Northeastern (3-1), 10. Biglerville (4-0).
