Dover grad Kara Funk gets unsung hero award

Kutztown University freshman Kara Funk, a 2013 Dover grad, was recently honored by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Media organization, by being named to its unsung hero team.

Funk earned the honors with a pair if early-season performances. Her 13 points - eight in the second half - helped the Golden Bears score a 59-58 come-from-behind win over PSAC foe East Stroudsburg. Funk made her only 3-point shot of the game and sank 8-of-11 free throws.

It marked the second time she helped her squad during a comeback, as she dropped 11 points during a Kutztown win over Philadelphia University.
