ACL tear claims Spring Grove leading receiver Hagerman

An ACL tear prematurely ended Logan Hagerman's senior football season at Spring Grove, coach Russ Stoner confirmed Thursday night. The returning-two year starter for the defending YAIAA Division I co-champion Rockets is slated to have surgery Friday morning.

Stoner said he noticed something was wrong with Hagerman earlier this month at a workout in which Hagerman fell after dropping back from taking a snap at quarterback. The coach, who said he was told it happened during a summer basketball camp, first feared Hagerman suffered a meniscus tear, "but that least that would salvage some of his basketball season." A visit to the doctor revealed the ACL tear.

Hagerman grabbed 29 passes last season as Spring Grove went 8-4 and shared a division championship with Central York. Spring Grove will now be without its top two receivers from that season. Austin Nee, last year's leader in catches with 34 graduated.

Hagerman helped stretch the field for the Rockets, as shown by his 21.8-yard average on receptions last season. He scored eight touchdowns. Only three other receivers in the YAIAA scored more TDs last season, and all three were graduating seniors.
