New Hope announces pair of new coaches

According to a release from the school, New Hope Charter announced it will have new coaches in both boys and girls basketball during the upcoming academic year.

David Archer will take over the successful boys program, which has been a consistent qualifier in the District 3 Class A playoffs and Terrance Clark will coach the Mighty Ants girls' program.

Former boys coach and current school athletic director, Anthony Hall will be taking on additional administrative responsibilities, which forced him away from coaching. One of those duties will be working to expand New Hope's entire athletic program, with the hopes of adding new sports in the future.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring such talented coaches on board at New Hope Academy,” said Hall in the release. "(Archer) emphasizes not only the successful record and experiences of the new coaches, but also how their philosophies mesh with the goals of the school and athletic program."

“It is my belief that the sport of basketball can not only shape and mold great student athletes, but also contribute the knowledge and skills for them to be successful citizens of our society,” said Archer in the release.

Clark, who previously led Harrisburg High School to district and PIAA tournament appearances is looking forward to the new challenge.

“I enjoy teaching not only fundamentals of the sport but also pride, discipline and leadership," he said. "By instilling these qualities in young women, my ultimate objective is to produce well-rounded individuals that will excel on and off the court.”
