Dallastown cheer coach Angie Gable recognized by PIAA

Dallastown's Angie Gable was recently honored by the PIAA as the first recipient of the GTM Sportswear Competitive Spirit Coaches Award. Gable has coached the varsity football and wrestling cheerleaders for 20 years. She will be presented with the award Saturday before the finals of the first PIAA Competitive Spirit State Championships at Hersheypark Arena.

Gable was nominated by Dallastown athletic director Tory Harvey and selected by the PIAA Sportsmanship Committee.

Gable, who teaches English at Dallastown, also takes on leadership roles with the Big 33 Football Classic and the Cystic Fibrosis Team Shad events. Her cheerleading squads also conduct volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and the Great PA Clean-Up. She also is involved in the school’s Volunteer Club. Gable helped raise funds for troops, coordinated seasonal pep rallies and collected items for canned food drives and Toys for Tots.

She also helped organize the YAIAA Competitive Spirit Championships.

“We are very excited to have Angie chosen for this award,” Harvey said in a statement, “as there are not too many opportunities out there to recognize the hard work our cheerleading coaches from across the state.”

As for Saturday's event at Hersheypark Arena, general admission will go on sale at 8 a.m. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for students. Pre‐kindergarten children will be admitted free of charge.
