A quick programming note

It's always difficult to say goodbye, especially to a place and community that have come to feel like home.

And yet, that's what I find myself having to do.

For those who don't already know, next week will be my last at the York Daily Record/Sunday News and GameTimePA.com. I've accepted a job offer that will take me away from the area. My last day here will be next Friday, Dec. 14.

I leave the YDR with conflicting emotions -- excitement for the opportunities that lay ahead; sadness to be leaving behind the many wonderful colleagues, coaches, athletes and administrators that I've had the privilege to get to know during the last three-and-a-half years.

There are many people to thank, and I'll be doing plenty of that throughout the coming days. But for now I want to quickly express my gratitude to you, our readers, who have made this job fun and helped turn the Varsity Beat into a gathering for high school sports fans and participants from around the York-Adams area.

For now, it's back to work, starting with the opening of the high school basketball season tomorrow night...
