All-Middle Atlantic Conference honors for YAIAA grads

Dallastown graduate Garrett Hartman and Biglerville's Parker Showers were both named to the Middle Atlantic Conference's second team this week for their play at Lycoming.

Hartman, who played on Dallastown's 10-0 regular season team two years ago, earned second-team honors as a sophomore offensive lineman. He played the right side of the Warriors’ line this season. Starting all 10 games, Hartman helped the Warriors rush for more than 100 yards in each of their nine MAC games.

Hartman was the only sophomore on either the offensive or defensive line to make either first- or second-team All-MAC.

Showers, a senior running back/specialist, also was a second-team pick in 2011. This year, he had a career-high 188 rushing yards against Misericordia in the season finale. A team captain, he averaged about 76 yards per game and scored eight touchdowns. He rushed for 1,977 career yards, finishing ninth in school history in both rushing yards and with 18 rushing TDs.

Showers' special teams nod from the MAC came after a 26.8-yard average per kick return. He set the Lycoming record for kickoff career return yardage in the game against Lebanon Valley. For the season, he returned 17 kicks for 456 yards, which left him just 6 yards shy of the Lycoming single-season record.

Hartman and Showers were the only players from YAIAA schools to receive All-MAC honors.
