Former York Catholic, area basketball stars to gather for "Weaver Fever" alumni games

Last month, I wrote about a former York Catholic girls' basketball star Amanda Weaver, who was diagnosed in June with Stage 3 colon cancer. On Oct. 13, York College's Grumbacher Center will host the "Weaver Fever" 3-on-3 basketball tournament, designed to raise money for Weaver's family and the American Cancer Association.

In addition to the tournament, the event's organizers have also put together a pair of alumni basketball games set for that night, featuring former standout players from York Catholic as well from around the area.

Here's the lineups for the alumni games, straight from the press release:

At 6:30, the Fighting Irish team, coached by Andy Bria, will play the Capital Area All-Stars, coached by Denny Bavaria.  At 7:30, the York Catholic girls will face the York County All-Stars, coached by York Suburban's Bob Rudisill. Appearing for the York Catholic team will be Megan Stewart, Danielle Colombo, Schuyler Merritt, Lindsey Marks, Shannon Bilyeu, Kelly Rhein, Ashton Bankos, Steph Carr, Brittany Hicks, Carly Marks, Mary Kurnat Manlove, Emily Falvey, and Coach Sue Reed. The Capital Area stars team will include Red Lion's Marley and Samantha Klunk, Katie Warehime of Littlestown, Lewistown's Hannah Geddey and Jenny Cunningham, and Casey Stanton of Cumberland Valley. The York County team will be comprised of Meredith Cox of Delone, Susquehannock's Brianna Lucas and Andrea Hoover, Brie Dohm of Eastern, Steph Frysinger of Central, Laura Harkins of Spring Grove, York High's Jasmine Byers and April Collier, and Dallastown's Chelsea Shearer, Carly Smith, Jenna Miller, and Kelly Guise. All members of the community are invited to attend the event. Donations for the benefit of Amanda and the American Cancer Society will be accepted. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please send to York Unity Sports, 3540 Pebble Ridge Drive, York, PA 17402.
