Dover's Laura Rowlands gets CAC honors - again

York College's Laura Rowlands - a former two-sport standout at Dover High School - won yet another Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week award on April 24.

Rowlands was honored by the CAC for the third time during this academic year after her performance at Moravian's Greyhound Invitational, where the sophomore placed in the top-10 in three individuals events, including two top-five finishes, plus helped the Spartans to a program record in the 4x100 relay.

She was third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.05-meters (36-feet, 3-inches). Her high jump of 1.57 meters (5-foot-1.75), earned her fourth place and she finished 10th in the long jump 5.07 meters (16' 7.75").

She also combined with Donteris Spence, Jasmine Smith and Deborah Fidele to once again set a school record in the 4x100 record (50.72.). She won the conference weekly award twice during the inaugural CAC indoor track and field season.

Rowlands was a standout on the track and field, plus the diving board at Dover and made the YAIAA all star team several times in track and swimming. I've known her since her freshman year with the Eagles and her success comes as no surprise.
