A couple recruiting notes to pass along...

- Central York junior Lauren Moyer has verbally committed to play field hockey at North Carolina in 2013.

The Tar Heels are ranked No. 1 in the nation this season and fresh off a 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference championship. Carolina is currently in the Final Four of the NCAA Div. I tournament, searching for the seventh national championship of coach Karen Shelton's 31-year career.

“UNC has been my dream school for a while now," Moyer said in a press release. “I just love everything about it.  Coach Shelton is an amazing person and her program is incredible – it’s a legacy I want to be a part of.  The team has such a family atmosphere and I really bonded with the staff and players during my visits to Chapel Hill."

Moyer was heavily recruited by top DI schools, finally narrowing her choices to UNC, Penn State and Syracuse.

Moyer is a member of East Coast Field Hockey National Academy.  She also competes within the USA Field Hockey Olympic Pipeline and was named to their Futures Elite program after competing in the 2011 Junior Olympics and National Futures Championship.

- South Western senior pitcher Eric Moul has signed his letter of intent to play at Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology next season. The lefthander should be the Mustangs staff ace this spring, after a junior campaign in which he was named a YAIAA Division I honorable mention all-star.

The Evening Sun's Daniel Paulling has a full story.

- Another South Western senior, Katie Wherley, signed her letter of intent to play lacrosse at La Salle next year. Wherley was the YAIAA girls' lacrosse co-player of the year last spring, in which she led the team with 70 goals and ranked second with 13 assists
