Penn State band to perform at Central York-Hempfield football game

Central York has announced it will host a special musical performance at halftime of its Sept. 16 football game against Hempfield. No, it's not the Black Eyed Peas. (Thankfully.)

Instead, Penn State's Blue Band will stop by to entertain the fans at Central's home opener, according to a release from the high school. The performance will essentially serve as a pit stop for the Blue Band, which will be en route to Philadelphia for PSU's away game at Temple the next day.

From Central York superintendent Michael Snell:

"We are honored that the Penn State Blue Band has elected to visit our high school and perform for our community during our first home football game. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the talents of the Blue Band members, several of whom are Central York High School alumni."

According to the release, the Blue Band will also join members of Central York's marching band and fans for a tailgate prior to Friday's kickoff.
