Nicholas scores 41, sets YAIAA scoring record

Andrew Nicholas needed 39 points. It seemed like too large a number, even for the free-shooting, point-popping Eastern York senior. But in his last home game -- his last contest ever in the arena he's never lost in -- Nicholas made history. The 6-foot-6 wing poured in a career-high 41 points Wednesday, during third-seeded Eastern York's 77-52 District 3 Class AAA first-round win against No. 14 Middletown. In the process, he inched past York Catholic's Jacob Iati's YAIAA scoring record, set in 2005. According to Eastern, Nicholas' point total now sits at 2,391 points. Given that Nicholas could have anywhere between two and eight games still remaining, he might end up pushing that total good bit higher. Daily Record/Sunday News reporter Jim Seip was in Wrightsville for Wednesday's contest. You can read his entire story -- complete with Nicholas' reaction -- by clicking here.
